Tuned out Thursday

What a day, it is so stormy outside. From my lurking I am gathering that it is pretty much like that around the whole of New Zealand.

My poor DH is stuck outside scanning and TB testing. Poor guy was not a happy camper this morning. Although he did appreciate a nice cooked breakfast. Honestly, the way to a man is through their stomach - well, my man anyway. And if that doesn't work - the eyes!! I can't complain though, he has been absolutly amazing this last week.

Did I tell you about something that was like a visa ad - a priceless moment. You might know I had a miscarriage before I meet him, and one since we've been together. Anyways, he was on the phone to an employer and must have been asked how many kids we have - and I heard him say "We've lost two to miscarriage" - I had to stop myself from going in there and hugging him. Later I told him how much that meant to me - and he said 'your pain is mine too now' ooooohhhhh ... I love him so much!!!!

We found a new beach for fishing! Only ten minutes from Lake Ferry, so even a little closer to home. It is so nice - the beach was deserted, so it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Ok, it was a Tuesday and normal people are at work. We left home at 3ish, and got there at 4ish, staying till about 6.30. DH caught a couple of cod which he threw back (too little he reckoned) and a couple of crabs (huge ones) which also got to live another day. Apparently he snagged a big fish which got off because there was a sand bank he had to get over. I happily decided to let him think that, rather than commenting in on his techniques.

I camped out on the picnic blanket with my jelly-beans and book. I'm up to number six in the Diana Galbourn (not sure on spelling on that author), anyway, she wrote 'DragonFly in Amber' series. They are such good books (well I like them anyway).

Today is back at work; writing letters home and finishing reports. Oh, and got to knit during the staff meeting and finished the mittens last night - so posting them off today. Will post a photo of them once I figure out how to link DH camera to my laptop.

Gotta go - check in with y'll later!!

What a weekend

I had the best weekend! Well, a productive one anyway.

My sister-in-law (who is 10 years 0ld) sent me the cutest letter. Of course it was written in Dutch so my DH had to translate it for me, but she is such a sweety. I can't wait to meet her one day. She wrote it because a couple of months ago I sent her a scarf I'd knitted. So, that got me thinking, I should make her matching mittens and a hat!

DH and I had to go out to my parents (who own a pine block) to cut firewood, so I convinced DH to stop by the wool shop on our way out of town. Five minutes later I emerged ($50 poorer) with a pattern, two sets on needles and five balls of wool. Onwards and upwards to the parents. We did the wood thing for a couple of hours, then stopped for lunch. Mum had made salad sammies - so nice and fresh. After lunch Dad and DH went back to work while Mum helped me get the mittens sorted. They are so cool, and I managed to finish it later that evening. About 3hrs in total I reckon.

Sunday I did the hat. Now, in case you think I'm totally nuts (which could be a fair assumption at times) I do knitting while watching the tele. Last week we got out the entire first season of Joey, so I've been glued to that all weekend (6 DVD set). OMG - I love it!! It is so funny. Does anyone know if they are planning on doing a second season?? Oh, did put Joey on pause while watch Survivor, not much exciting there though.

Anyway, TMI - but Sunday night was awesome!!! Definatly good to get some new moves in the BD department!!

So, today is Monday, and I have my knitting with me (wonder if I can get away with doing it during a staff meeting?) and hope to get a few rows done. It's her (the SIL) birthday on the 23rd of Dec, and I'll need to post them at least a couple of weeks ahead.

Anyways, upwards and onwards - it's my turn to think up a new move, and even more important than that (but barely) I have to finish writing reports!!
