Easter Weekend

Easter weekend is well and truly over ... but we had a great time. The weather was awesome. Here are some pictures from our fishing trip to Lake Ferry on Good Friday, along with one of Wouter with our youngest farm dog, Missy.

Easter

I got the bunny from a friend who came over for dinner, with a box of beer for DH and the bunny for me ... DH was a bit put out b/c I was so excited about getting an Easter bunny (friend was male). I think this was the first time someone especially bought me one since I was a kid.

Unfortunately, I am off chocolate at the moment (will tell you why hopefully in a few days) so my BF ended up eating it on Easter Monday.

The spongebob egg DH got given by me one afternoon. If he ever - very rarely - gets home on time he will switch the tele on and watch Spongebob Squarepants. He also lost his watch, and this one had a watch in it. Unfortunately, was a kids size watch, but you should have seen his face light up when I gave it to him - he felt very special!!

Wet Wednesday

Finally it is raining ... and even though it is colder than it has been I'm happy to see the rain. The dams and creeks around the farm were starting to look extremely dry and while it isn't pouring yet - there is a heavy rain warning out for the Tauraua Ranges which we live right beside. So I reckon that should fill them up a little. Not too good for the shearing plans this week - but guess you can't have everything.

I've been ok - life has its usual ups and downs. Feeling very tired of working at the moment ... some classes are alot harder work than last year. Guess that's part of the challenges of being a teacher.

We had our cat spayed last Friday. After two litters of kittens we decided she could be given a break - esp since the vet told us afterwards she was already in the very early stages of pregnancy again - and her kittens had only been gone a week!! Felt a bit awful about that, but at least she's not going to be providing kittens to people who buy them when they're cute and then get rid of them later. Although the monkey has taken to meowing under out bedroom window at all hours of the night ... not my idea of fun. I'm going to lock her in the laundry with her litter box if it happens again tonight. I have bad enough sleeps at the moment without being woken five times by a meowing cat!!

Nice lazy Sunday

The past few Sundays have been really beautiful ... sunny and friends over for lunch under the shade of the trees.

Dh is great with our friends little girl - hard to belive that 3 months ago she was dead scared of him and screamed blue murder at him while we were living with them before going on holiday.

I have spent a couple hours today sleeping! Crazy but woke up feeling more blurgh, must get onto the iron tablets.

Oh, must share with you a photo of my cat - must get her off to the vet this week to be spayed - poor darling has had two litters within the last 6 months, and although we're found homes for all the kittens, and love having them around, I don't want her worn out.

This coming week is going to be busy ... me being me hasn't caught up on my marking during the weekend, so it's going to be busy busy at school Monday morning. I've got a school trip to Napier/Hastings on Thursday with my class - bit nervous about that b/c I'm not a morning person and we're leaving at 6am and back at 9pm. Long day.

Frumpy Friday

I'm being a lazy bum today and am sitting on the couch having a good ole chat with some of my friend on MSN.

DH has got a sore wisdom tooth - and finding a dentist with a free late afternoon appointment is like finding a pig that is flying! Honestly, I would have thought that dentists would keep maybe one or two appointments free for emergancy purposes. But no, most of them are fully booked for the next two-four weeks. I think we'll be going to the emergancy dentist on Saturday, if he decided not to be stubborn.

Not much else ... was going to take a photo of the cat curled up beside me, but the minute I move to get the camera, she moves to follow me b/c she wants something other than the cat bikkies (like wet cat food!!) and unfortunately, it is all finished. She did finish off my weetbix from this morning. I am loving the fact that she is getting cuddly again now the kittens are gone. Must organise getting her spayed this week!!

Slow day ...

The afternoon is slowly coming to an end. Before I know it my DH will be home and I can scoot back into the kitchen and prepare some dinner. We're having Bami Goreng tonight, which is stir fried pork and veges with a spicy sauce and noodles. I'm using a new spice packet - so we'll see what that's like. The only think I don't like - is that it is hard to clean the wok, although it is my favorite appliance at the moment for meals. I made a stir fry with zucchini and shrimps and that was so nice too.

Today has been a usual Friday for me, starting with the housework - I even got around to cleaning the sliding door windows. Mopped and vacuumed - and remembered to do that bathroom (unlike last week). I had to go into town to drop the kittens off at the pet shop. DH decided that we weren't going to keep one, so the Mama cat is all on her ownsome again. I am hoping to get her fixed up next week, so we don't have any more little ones around. She is too skinny and just needs to have a break - but I don't think you can get the pill for cats?

I've really enjoyed this past week - has gone quite fast, and I"m hoping all the weeks till the end of the term will as well. We have our annual school picnic next week, so it is a short teaching week for me, but will be full on with the seniors back from their camp. Hopefully they manage to catch up some sleep on Saturday and Sunday before classes on Monday.

We've nearly got all our firewood now - Mum nicely gave me a bunch of flowers while my DH was there getting the wood (they own a pine block) which is in the photo below. I love gladioli!! They are so cheerful! THANKS MUM!!

Midweek ...

It is the middle of the week. This week has been so amazing so far (for lots of reasons). The kids have been working so hard, (that's my yr9/10 class) and I've been enjoying the extra non-contacts to get to know everyone on EBB better (LOL). Nah, I have been doing catch up marking and planning for the next few weeks when my seniors are back as well. They'll be getting into reading and analysing their novels next week, so that'll be fun (for me at least). We're studying Lord of the Flies, To Kill and Mockingbird and Animal Farm.

My juniors are doing speeches at the moment and a unit on other cultures/refugees in social studies. In PE hopefully I will have the Pilates DVD by next week OR we're going to learn some cheerleading.

I'm really enjoying being at school ... although can't wait till the time comes to be a SAHM. (It will come ... I am being positive!!).

DH is really enjoying his new job - he is looking at doing some distance learning, so that he can get some formal NZ qualifications. I'm enjoying walking the youngest dog (she's 7 months) in the afternoon as she often doesn't get to work during the day. You're not meant to work two heading dogs at the same time, so until she's a bit more trained, DH can't take her out to do jobs herself. Black, our huntaway, is slowly getting his bark back, although still sounds at times like he's got a frog in his throat. The kittens are going to be dropped off at the pet shop tomorrow or Friday - they are eating one can of jelly meat between them and their mum and day, along with a full bowl of dry food to snack on between times.

I've been into baking lately - oaty biscuits are my poisen of choice. Trying to make myself eat more fruit, but these are yummy!! Into shrimps in nasi goreng for dinner, along with meat with salad in tortilla wraps.

Um, not much else happening. Have a non-contact now while another teacher has the kids so must go and mark their last diagnostic test!!
